Stop Silverware Tarnish this Holiday Season
Hopefully, your silver flatware and sterling serving pieces have been safeguarded in anti-tarnish storage products and kept clean in a cool, dry environment since their last use and not sitting unwashed, unprotected, in direct sunlight!
Before you dig in to your holiday meal, be aware that mayonaisse, eggs, and onions are just a few of the sulfur-rich foods that, when in contact with your silver, can cause it to tarnish. To be safe, we recommend serving dishes containing thses ingredients and salad dishes in glass bowls as opposed to silver, as ingredients in dressings can also accelerate corrosion of metals. So, it is a good idea to keep in mind the foods and ingredients that may come into contact with your silver and plan accordingly.
If possible, wash your silver as soon as possible after dining. This will reduce the chance of tarnish forming. Once your silverware is clean and dry again, be sure to store it away in tarnish prevention products so it will be shiny and ready to use for your next special occasion.
Wishing you a happy, healthy, and tarnish-free holiday season!
