Intercept is highly effective in various temperature and humidity conditions, but storing your items in a clean and dry environment enhances its performance. Keep your Intercept-protected items away from dampness and ensure the storage area is free from dust and debris.
Intercept works by reacting with and neutralizing corrosive gasses. While it excels at this, minimizing exposure to such gasses further extends its effectiveness. Be mindful of storage areas near industrial zones, combustion sources, or areas with high pollution levels.
Intercept Silver & Jewelry Care offers a range of anti-tarnish packaging and storage systems. Take advantage of Intercept packaging to provide an additional layer of protection for your items. This is especially beneficial for retailers and manufacturers looking to deliver Intercept-protected products to customers.
If you're storing multiple metal items, consider keeping different metals separated. Intercept is effective against galvanic coupling (corrosion between joined dissimilar metals), but separating them adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring each item receives individual Intercept care.
When handling Intercept-protected items, make sure your hands are clean to avoid introducing external contaminants. Intercept is non-abrasive and will not scratch items, but maintaining cleanliness during handling contributes to the overall preservation effort.
Intercept provides corrosion protection for up to 10 years per mil of material. Periodically check Intercept material for any signs of wear, tears, or damage. If you notice any issues, consider replacing or reinforcing the Intercept material to maintain optimal protection.
If you're a retailer or manufacturer, educate your team and customers about Intercept care. Provide guidelines on proper storage and handling, and emphasize the benefits of Intercept™ in preserving the quality of metal items over time.
By following these practical tips, you can maximize the effectiveness of Intercept and ensure that your cherished items remain tarnish and corrosion-free for years to come. Intercept Silver & Jewelry Care is committed to offering the finest anti-tarnish solutions, and with these guidelines, you can make Intercept work its magic to the fullest. ]]>Bracelets may use knotted leather joined with silver. Necklaces also can use a thin leather braid and a silver pendant. Rubber cords and rubber tubes combined with silver are also used for men’s and women’s bracelets, necklaces, etc. Black rubber or leather with silver clasps for both men's and women's necklaces also make a fashion statement, and while these combinations make for unique products, they can also cause issues.
The challenge these designs create is in maintaining the silver to keep it from tarnishing. The combination of materials will need to be managed because leather and rubber contain very high levels of Sulphur which will tarnish the silver portion of the jewelry piece relatively quickly. Some of these items are made with silver that has an anti-tarnish or rhodium coating, but these coatings can oxidize and/or wear off, causing the silver to get dull and tarnished. While this style of jewelry makes an interesting fashion statement, it needs constant care in between uses (and when it’s stored) to keep it looking it’s best.
Anti-tarnish tabs are great for preventing tarnish in an environment with low to elevated levels of Sulfur and very effective at absorbing and neutralizing those corrosive gases. However, when you have very high levels of Sulfur, like silver with rubber and/or leather, especially when combined with heat and humidity, you need more protection in order to neutralize the gases that lead to tarnish and corrosion. So, for very high sulfur environments, by using an anti-tarnish bag or pouch, you are completely surrounding the jewelry with the anti tarnish material. Then the bag/pouch will not only isolate the jewelry item from its corrosive environment, but it will absorb and neutralize the corrosive gases, thereby keeping your silver item shiny and tarnish free!
]]>Obviously, no manufacturer would want to purposely degrade their products’ performance or appearance. However, this may be exactly what happens when proper attention and understanding is not applied to selecting packaging materials for storing and shipping jewelry. This negative impact can affect many metals used in the creation of jewelry including silver and gold plated items. Many adhesives used in the box as well as the foam inserts can contain chlorides, nitrous gases and sulfur, which when tested have shown to cause substantial tarnish to all metals - especially silver jewelry. This is also true for a variety of other packaging materials including but not limited to ring, pendant and bracelet boxes, earring display cards, necklace cards, leatherette, fabric and wood.
An increase in temperature during storage, shipping, and display, coupled with the close proximity of these materials to the jewelry can accelerate the tarnishing effects of these gases. Due to varying climates across the globe the rate at which this additional factor impacts tarnishing will differ. Negatively impacting the appearance of stored and shipped jewelry can result in additional costs due to potential returns from either the customer, distributor, retailer, or the manufacturer, if jewelry products arrive looking tarnished or dull.
Though packaging often remains a secondary consideration for jewelry manufacturers, going beyond simple aesthetics can provide short term benefits for protection of items that are tarnish sensitive. The addition of active anti-corrosion protection added to the packaging design can boost packaging from being neutral to the items inside, to enhancing the products. Results show us that choosing the correct materials for constructing the packaging for shipping, storing and display is important for how your jewelry products are protected.

]]>The love match idea was very destabilizing to more conservative approaches and thus rewarding people with gifts emphasized building love and commitment. As time went on, mentions of silver and gold wedding gifts acknowledging these milestones increased. Initially when people spoke of a silver or gold wedding it was described as a German or Dutch tradition. Both the husband and wife would celebrate these anniversaries. The husband would crown his wife with a wreath of silver and the husband would receive a silver buckle for their 25th wedding anniversary. Various composers and authors of the times wrote about the celebration of a wife being given a silver crown or leaves as part of the wedding anniversary celebration festivities. As the idea of a “love marriage” grew and continued to flourish gender roles remained and the wife’s achievement in reaching the milestone was considered as more important and celebrated with these metal gifts. Eventually it was also recognized that it took work on the husband’s side to reach these important accomplishments of long-lived marriages.
Presents were one way to show an appreciation for the work involved, but also recognized that the couple would have enjoyed a harmonious existence to be together for so many years. Initially, it was thought the wife should receive most of the credit This old idea was that the harmony was mainly due to the wife’s efforts.
As the silver and gold traditions spread, shopkeepers looked for additional ways to mark earlier anniversaries as well. By the late 1800’s additional gifts such as paper, wood and tin were being seen to acknowledge years one, five and ten years of marriage. In the 1920’s Hallmark got involved in the celebrations and by the 1930’s the American National Jeweler Association got involved and introduced and expanded the list in an effort to find a gift for every year. Eventually there was a list put together for every year up to 50 years. With 44 years with the gift of groceries. Below is a partial sample list:
1st Anniversary: Paper
5th Anniversary: Wood
10th Anniversary: Tin
15th Anniversary: Crystal
20th Anniversary: China
25th Anniversary: Silver
30th Anniversary: Pearls
35th Anniversary: Coral
50th Anniversary: Gold

For the past 2 years there has been a large focus on keeping ourselves and our environment healthy and free from contaminants like viruses. We are all using many more cleaning products for our hands, household / business surfaces, and our clothing than ever before. Hands and surfaces are disinfected probably 10 times more than prior to 2019. This has also created more focus and analyses of the chemicals in cleaning products as we are exposed to them at a much greater rate than ever before.
In addition, people nowadays are also gaining more awareness about chemicals and detergents that come in contact with their skin, these also include makeup and lotions. Many websites give information regarding potentially dangerous chemicals in these cleaners such as parabens, VOC’s, ammonia, and bleach. While other sites list and review environmentally friendly products. We are learning that anything that goes on the skin can be absorbed into the body. These cleaning chemicals may also impact the air we breathe.
We begin to wonder if we are exposing our skin to any toxins or allergens. How does our body react to wearing jewelry? Is keeping our jewelry clean introducing irritation or allergens to our skin or lungs?
There is currently a tremendous focus on the environment and responsibility for corporations and individuals to respect and preserve our precious resources. When it comes to preventing the degradation of metals there are options that can also damage the environment as well as irritate your skin and lungs. Some jewelry packaging products that “outgas” (the release of gas once an anti-tarnish product becomes saturated) can negatively impact the environment as well as your health.
Intercept Technology has been involved in environmentally safe products since the mid 1990’s. There is no outgassing and there is no concern of dermatitis with direct contact to the skin. Intercept has even gotten the prestigious German Environmental Award. Demonstrating we are not only concerned about the environment and safety to humans when it’s becoming a topic of the moment, but we’ve been aware of the concern for this important issue for over 35 years! So, when you use Intercept tabs, bags or pouches to prevent your jewelry from tarnishing you can feel confident you are not damaging the environment or your health and safety.

Leatherette is frequently used as a covering in ring, bracelet and necklace boxes. Retailers also use various displays made of this product and it has also been used as a tray liner. What you may not be aware of however, is that leatherette is manufactured using PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) which can lead to outgassing of chlorine and other volatile organic compounds.
Because chlorine accelerates the rate of tarnishing, outgassing can create and/or contribute to tarnishing of the very jewelry it is used to display. In fact, the heat of the showcase lights may cause an increase in the rate of corrosion because heat expedites the release of chlorine from the vinyl/leatherette product.
All retailers want to keep their inventory looking shiny and spotless in the jewelry show case as it waits to be purchased or as the item sits in the packaging/ box waiting to be presented. Manufacturers want their product lines looking tarnish free when they display them at tradeshows or presentation to clients. The effects of the tarnish caused by this outgassing is all too prevalent as most of the display products contribute to this issue.
Fortunately, there are several products that can assist with neutralizing these corrosive gases which are introduced by the PVC included in the leatherette or faux leather.
Many manufacturers add an anti-tarnish strip in the box with the jewelry to prevent tarnish during storage and shipping. Jewelry retailers concerned about their showcases have the option of either placing ant-tarnish strips or pads in the show case which can be hidden out of sight behind a display pad or tray.
When using anti tarnish products, be sure they are non-toxic, environmentally friendly and do not emit any chemicals or oils. If the strips are to be in contact with the jewelry, always use non-abrasive poly strips (not paper). Since anti-tarnish strips and pads must be replaced periodically for maximum effectiveness, it’s equally important to choose ones that have a saturation indicator so you know when to replace them.
While these are not hard and fast rules, they are fun to pay attention to and see how accurate they are for both others as well as yourself:
All in all, it makes you realize you can tell a lot about a person based on how they adorn themselves. And what ever Jewelry you choose to adorn yourself with, remember...First impressions are lasting impressions!

Product shelf life is how long a product can sit on the shelf, before it is put to use, and still be effective, whereas active life is how long a product lasts once it is put to use. All Intercept anti tarnish products have a 5 year shelf life and have an active life that begins when an Intercept product is put to use. So why should you care? Read on...
Supply chain issues are affecting almost every aspect of business and life these days. Currently, shipping times have also been taking longer than usual. While Intercept Silver & Jewelry Care is not experiencing delays in its supply chain, we understand that generally, many products are taking longer than expected to reach the desired destination. And, since many of the large retailers require your jewelry products to be shipped with anti-tarnish tabs or bags, delays in shipping your jewelry because you are out of these products can cause you to incur surcharges as well as unhappy customers. To help mitigate these time lags, you need to be properly prepared to ship your items as soon as possible by having extra anti-tarnish tabs and bags on hand.
This is where shelf life becomes important and why you should care, because you can prevent your business from suffering the inconvenience, additional costs and stress caused by a disruptive supply chain. This disruption can affect your ability to keep and service your customers. So, it’s reassuring to know that Intercept's anti tarnish tabs and bags can sit on the shelf unused for up to 5 years and still maintain their effectiveness
No worries if you order extra and don’t need it right away. In fact, the benefits of having extra product on hand will cost you less in the long run:
Be Proactive not Reactive
Don’t be caught short, be proactive by keeping anti tarnish tabs and bags in stock so you don't have to be reactive, in a rush, and under pressure to get them…. because as long as you are in business, you are going to need them.
Eliminating the uncertainty of your ability to satisfy your customers regarding shipping, will be one less stressor as we head into the holiday season!

]]>Did you know hand sanitizer can damage your jewelry?
During the recent pandemic we have all been washing our hands and using hand sanitizer much more often than ever before. Some of you may not be aware of the negative affect on jewelry from the repeated use of hand sanitizer. Even as the pandemic is waning we are all finding ourselves being more careful trying to keep our hands germ free.
There are basically two kinds of hand sanitizer: alcohol based and alcohol free. Alcohol free sanitizer uses chlorine based chemicals. These chlorine based chemicals can accelerate tarnish and corrosion as well as dull your diamonds, gemstones and gold or silver settings. They can also cause prongs to loosen as they may change the surface of the metal over time. We may be purchasing our own hand sanitizer or using hand sanitizer dispensers in stores or schools. In the latter situation we do not know the ingredients or which base chemical is in these dispensers.
Follow these 3 steps to prevent damage to your engagement rings and other jewelry.
2. Wait until your hands and fingers are completely dry before placing your rings back on
If you decide to hold off wearing your jewelry for now, it’s important to clean it using the proper methods - click here to see several options. Once cleaned place your jewelry in tarnish prevention packaging to preserve it’s shine and beauty. Be sure it’s completely dry, with no finger prints, oils, chemicals, or deposits for best results.

Liquid Cleaners / Dips: This category of cleaners is targeted widely at consumers. There are hundreds, if not thousands of brands many of which are abrasive and can contain harsh chemicals that may or may not be safe for many gems, especially softer ones like amber, turquoise, pearl, opal, emerald, etc. Some of these cleaners can also have toxic ingredients, so it's extremely important to know what ingredients are in the liquids that you are purchasing. Most reputable companies can provide an safety data sheet (SDS) with this info. There are certainly ones that are safe but again, pay attention to their labels and SDS's!
Polishing Machines / Compounds: These items are used predominantly by jewelers, both retailers and manufacturers. A lot of precaution is needed here since there are several different compounds that can be used, some of which are abrasive and can cause harm to both gems and softer metals. This category is used mainly in manufacturing and repairs and should not be used frequently on the same item. Every time silver is polished this way, it creates fine micro-scratches on the metal which creates more surface area thereby increasing tarnish rates. In other words, the more you polish silver, the faster it tarnishes.
Ultrasonic Cleaners / Solutions: These cleaners are mostly used, after an item has been buffed on a machine, to loosen and cleanse the polishing compounds utilized during the buffing process. They work with an ultrasonic cleaning solution, heat, and vibration. Care needs to be taken here because the vibration of the ultrasonic can cause gemstones to loosen. The heat involved can also cause damage to soft stones. For this reason it's best to use a lower heat setting when working with sensitive stones. In some cases, the solutions can be damaging to certain gems even at a low heat. Every jeweler should be aware of what stones are susceptible to these liquid solutions and heat settings: https://www.gemsociety.org/article/care-maintenance-gemstones/
Electro-Cleaners: This method uses an electro cleaning solution and electricity that's created through the use of a Rectifier. In simple terms, the Rectifier sends an electrical current both through the jewelry and a container filled with the solution. The jewelry is then placed inside the container where it is electronically cleaned, hence the term "electro-cleaner". This method can cause issues for many gemstones and metals so it's best left for professional use only. For best results it best for the solution to be quite hot though again, this depends upon the heat sensitivity of the gems involved.
Baking Soda, Aluminum Foil, and Toothpaste?: Amongst all the methods available to can clean silver and remove tarnish, there are also many, shall we say, unusual ways out there, some of which are effective and some not so much! Toothpaste for example, will clean well but can be quite abrasive, ruin gem stones, and get into crevices where it's difficult to remove it. Baking soda mixed with water into a paste can also be abrasive which will scratch gem stones and the silver thereby causing it to tarnish faster as we discussed earlier in this blog. Placing your silver items on aluminum foil that has a mixture of baking soda and warm water, causes an electrolytic action that removes tarnish but can also harm oxidized silver.
Conclusion: As you can surmise from this blog, there are so many ways to clean silver, just a few of which we discussed in this blog. And, while this blog only covers a few of the basics, there are still hundreds of other ways to clean your silver, some good and other not so good. The bottom line here is that it's important to know the properties of the gems and metals you are cleaning as well as having a thorough knowledge of the methods, machines, and chemicals involved before deciding on which one to utilize. But one thing is for sure, the more you polish silver, the faster it tarnishes, so you want to polish it as seldom as possible. This raises the question whether or not to polish your silver and how often. Obviously yes, if you want your silver to look like new you need to polish it, but the real question is how do I avoid repeatedly cleaning my silver so it doesn't tarnish even faster? The answer is simple: clean your silver one last (or for the first) time and when you're not using or wearing it, store it in tarnish prevention packaging that's safe, non-toxic, non-contaminating, and non-abrasive.
In order to be environmentally responsible your packaging needs to have certain attributes. Intercept saves resources and preserves the environment, ensuring 100% reliable protection against tarnish and corrosion and here's why:
While Intercept Technology™ packaging materials are safe and non-toxic, as a #4 low density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic, they also break down to a polymer dust in a land fill and are fully recyclable. Along with its reusability, Intercept leaves a much lower carbon footprint than most traditional protective packaging.
Intercept Technology™ films can be recycled and disposed of without any problems because the product meets all national and international regulations for the recycling of colored and uncolored plastics.
Intercept polymers are not just recyclable, but they are also sustainable and compliant with Prop 65 and current European legislation on packaging and recycling – including Reach Initiative, European and Chinese RoHS, TRGS-615 and TRGS-900 - Intercept was awarded a German Government Environmentally Friendly Anti-Corrosion Packaging Award in 2005 (the only anti-corrosion packaging to do so).
Clean, non-toxic, and non-contaminating, Intercept is a superior product that does not use volatile chemicals or leave deposits on products it protects, proving that not all plastics are inherently bad!

]]>If you have a business in the jewelry industry, it's almost a guarantee that you've seen some kind of negative effect on your business since March of 2020. Almost all retail stores were empty and in-store shopping completely halted due to a global shutdown. Many thought the jewelry industry would be doomed for an extensive period of time since many would consider jewelry a luxury item, but that might not have exactly been the case.
During the initial stages of the pandemic when most people were being quarantined, some reports showed that sales in the industry had dropped by around 80%. In 2020 we saw a drop from over $2.5 billion in February sales to under $500 million in April. These sales were some of the lowest we've seen in 40 years.
The summer, especially June, is prime time in the amount of people getting married and engaged. As you can imagine, the majority of these events had no choice but to be cancelled or postponed to a later date. This played a significant factor in why, for example, we saw lab-grown diamond sales drop around 70%, which brought about a 13% decrease in the price of such jewels. However, as early as May, we saw the sales of lab-grown diamonds increase by 150%. This gave people a somewhat surprising hope for the industry's recovery in the near future.
Most retail shops closed, but people still had to make a living somehow. The only solution, for many, was to advertise their products on the internet and figure out a way to sell direct to consumer virtually. This probably seemed intimidating for business owners who had no prior experience with online sales, but what it did was actually open up a whole new revenue stream for companies that previously only acquired sales through an in-person retail setting.
It is now 2021 and for some businesses out there that have been able to open up and get back to business as usual, their sales have gone back to usual as well. The particular reasons an individual would have for purchasing jewelry could vary widely, but we have a few particular theories that make sense.
People have been quarantined up in their homes & apartments for months. They could be purchasing jewelry as possibly a comfort item to help in dealing with the stress of the situation. They could be purchasing as a gift for other people they haven't been able to see or people they know were having a tough time. It could be that some of those postponed events, like weddings, are finally starting to take place again. And a more obvious scenario is the fact that online shopping has increased tremendously since a lot of people have been sitting at home on their computers or watching TV because they haven't been able to go out and spend money on items they were purchasing before the global lockdown. The stimulus checks people have been receiving also seem to have had at least a small influence in the revival of not only the jewelry industry, but other luxury businesses as well.
]]>Gases that trap heat in the atmosphere are called greenhouse gases. These gases include: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Nitrous oxide (N2O), & Fluorinated gases.
Three main factors determine each of these gases effect on climate change: How much is in the atmosphere. Larger emissions of greenhouse gases lead to higher concentrations in the atmosphere How strongly do they impact the atmosphere. Some gases are more effective than others at making the planet warmer and "thickening the Earth's blanket." How long do the stay in the atmosphere. Each of these gases can remain in the atmosphere for different amounts of time, ranging from a few years to thousands of years.
Greenhouse gases trap heat and make the planet warmer. Human activities are responsible for almost all of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere over the last 150 years. The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities in the United States is from burning fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation. Transportation being the the largest source of all at 25%.
Since 1990, gross U.S. greenhouse gas emissions have increased by 3.7 percent. From year to year, emissions can rise and fall due to changes in the economy, the price of fuel, and other factors. In 2018, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions increased compared to 2017 levels. The increase in CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion was a result of multiple factors, including increased energy use due to greater heating and cooling needs due to a colder winter and hotter summer in 2019 compared to 2018.
Intercept's patented packaging will react with these gases that play a part in causing your silver & jewelry to tarnish and corrode. The material in our packaging actively attacks gases and neutralizes them so they don't even have a shot at ruining your valuables. With how affordable our products are, there's absolutely no reason not to take the simplest preventative measure and store your silver, jewelry, precious metals, etc. with one of our patented products.
On the road we're on, greenhouse gases are showing no sign of slowing down as the population grows and more people are letting these gases in the air by driving their automobiles and countless other things that increase the abundance of these gases. Is there really any reason to wait when it comes to protecting your valuables from the 'invisible enemy?'
There are products in aerosol cans that claim to protect your valuables from tarnish and corrosion, they actually release more of those unwanted gases in the atmosphere. Intercept's zip-lock bags and pouches are completely environmentally friendly, and they're not creating more of the harmful greenhouse gases. Instead, they eliminate them.

Silver can take anywhere from a few short weeks to a few years to tarnish. In this months blog we explain the different variables that effect the rate of tarnish and also the differences between pure silver, silver alloys, and how they tarnish differently.
]]>The amount of time it takes silver to tarnish is not a question that can be answered simply. There are many variables to take into account when considering how long its going to take your beautifully polished silver to turn into an unrecognizable dirty brownish looking piece of metal. If you store your silver properly, it will take many many years for you to see any signs of tarnish; if it even tarnishes at all, but we'll go more into that later.
The simplest way to put it is that it can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of years for your silver to tarnish. As mentioned before, there are just too many variables for anyone to give you a definite answer. Things like how you're storing your silver, what kind of environment it is in, and how much it is being handled are all factors that will have an effect on the tarnishing process. For example, if you live in a humid area similar to Florida's environment, your items are going to tarnish faster than an environment farther north like Maine's, where there is less moisture in the air. If you handle your silver bare-handed frequently, the oils and dirt on your hands are going to accelerate the tarnishing process. If you leave your silver or jewelry next to your bathroom sink instead of in a wonderful tarnish preventing Intercept bag or pouch, you're likely going to see tarnish within a few weeks to months instead of a few short years.
Now lets talk the various forms of silver since most silver products purchased are not entirely pure silver, but sterling silver, coin silver, or simply silver plated. Real silver, or silver with close to 99.9% purity, is just too soft for use as jewelry. To make it stronger and more durable, silver is mixed with copper and sometimes zinc or nickel to strengthen the precious metal. This silver alloy is called sterling silver and is generally about 92.5% pure. It is easily identifiable with a '.925' stamp as pictured above. Sterling silver tarnishes faster and that's mainly due to the copper alloy it is infused with. Other types of silver include coin silver or silver plating. Coin silver is a composite alloy and generally no more than 90% pure. Silver plating is usually a coating of sterling silver or pure silver over a less valuable metal. With silver plating, the coating will eventually wear away and look less desirable. With these silver alloys and anything that isn't more then 99% pure, you absolutely need to be storing them properly if you care about preserving their appeal. It's honestly never been more affordable or simpler than our company has made it. Storing them in Intercept packaging will keep your belongings tarnish free for years. Below you will see a piece of jewelry not stored in anything compared to the same piece stored in an Intercept bag.
Fun Fact: The name sterling silver most likely comes to a type of silver coin that was originally minted by Britain's King Henry II, due to its steady value and durability. It is believed the coins, at 92.5 % purity, were known as "Easterling coins." This name was soon shortened from Easterling to just sterling.
The stimulus packages, the bail outs, etc... Where is all this magic money coming from? Its almost as if it appeared out of thin air. Of course, it didn't print out of thin air, but it was generated in a similar fashion: the FED's magic money printer. It seems like any time they need cash, they always seem to find a way to get it.
It is great that citizens were able to receive aid during the COVID crisis to help them survive through the pandemic, but what most don't realize is that all this money being printed 'out of thin air' is devaluing the U.S. currency and increasing the rate of inflation more than it already is. And since the USD is the global reserve currency, it devalues all flat currencies. Luckily for those of us that have invested in silver, gold, and other precious metals; they still haven't figured out a way to 3D-print those assets.
In addition to the powers at be unable to generate precious metals on demand, the pandemic has slowed mining production of all precious metals by a significant percentage. It makes you wonder if this is why the digital price of silver is about $28 an ounce, but to physically get an ounce of silver in your hands, your looking at anywhere between $32-35 an ounce (Silver was $18 just 5-6 weeks ago). Go to ANY silver retailer, add an ounce of silver to your cart, and see for yourself what the real price of silver is.
These facts would support the reason why banks and the wealthy have been buying silver and gold at a higher rate than we have seen in many years. If anyone knows whats going on behind the scenes, it is the bankers and super rich of the United States. Precious metals and possibly even cryptocurrencies would be a great hedge if we are getting ready to see hyper inflation of the flat currency system. Why? Because those are assets that cannot be created on demand when governments find their nation in dire financial straits. This is especially true with silver and gold not only historically being used as currency for thousands of years, but now silver is also being used extensively in the industrial sector (mostly for the electronics we all use on a daily basis.) Other usage of silver is followed in a distant second by the jewelry sector and third for investment purposes. This indicates that the utility of silver is increasing, and with the increase of utility we will surely see an increase in demand.
"Currently we’re seeing a surge of applications for silver-based biocides in all areas: industrial, commercial and consumer. New products are being introduced almost daily. Established companies are incorporating silver based products in current lines - clothing, refrigerators, mobile phones, computers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, keyboards, countertops, furniture handles and more. The newest trend is the use of nano-silver particles to deliver silver ions." - The Silver Institute
Whether it is silver rounds, bars, or jewelry; the rate of the paper in all our wallets will lose value faster than precious metals. Especially in the modern digital age of instant information, massive bailouts, trillions of yearly national debt, and further understanding of how our economic system actually works by the average person. Understanding on how to protect your individual wealth has become much more of a priority as we all see the current economic system become jeopardized by economic shutdowns, rumors of a '2nd wave' of COVID-19, and growing political tensions.
Store your wealth and store it properly with Intercept Technology.
]]>Jewelry gets handled by a lot of people from the time it is created to the time the consumer gets it. It has to be mined, purified, molded, packaged, and then sold either in a retail store or by an online vendor. That’s a lot of people, surfaces, hands, etc. This means bacteria. Potentially harmful bacteria. Nobody wants that on their jewelry as it is handled every time you take it on or off and is mostly worn close to openings in the body such as your ears, mouth, and on your hands (which touch everything).
It is not unusual for the product you have purchased to have not been disinfected properly. When most people come to realize this, they quickly search for a reliable way to properly keep their belongings sanitized which may include using some sort of bactericide (a substance that kills bacteria). Most bactericide comes in some form of liquid substance that you either use to polish or soak the object in. Bactericides have a wide variety of applications, but are used mainly in agriculture to spray on crops to protect them from bugs as well as micro-organisms. Using these products takes up time, can be messy, and also potentially harmful to children, pets, and the environment.
Properly cleaning your product after you purchase it is recommended. Without proper storage, sanitizing your jewelry can become a tedious process. However, with proper storage, you can not only prevent bacteria growing all over your metals or jewelry, but you can keep it free from tarnish and corrosion as well.
Some people simply store their items in a box or standard plastic bag. This does nothing for the bacteria that is already living on your jewelry. Others take the time to soak or wash their items to ensure max effectiveness. While occasionally cleaning your items with a bactericide is always recommended, it doesn’t have to be a frequent obligation. What if there was a special type of packaging that acted as a bactericide without having to do any work or use any other product? Well I’ve got good news; there is! Intercept zip-lock bags and pouches are not passive solutions, but they actively protect your valuables as long as they are in one of our bags and sealed. Simply store the object in the bag and our patented material will do the rest. With Intercept, we make products that bring peace of mind, affordability, and are very practical for anyone owning jewelry to use.
Extra tips to protect your jewelry:
- Don't sleep in your jewelry
- Put on makeup BEFORE your jewelry
- Try to avoid getting water on jewelry
- Don't wear your jewelry at the gym
- And of course, store your jewelry properly

It has become impossible to ignore everything going on in the world around us. Banks are issuing negative interest rate loans, government debts continue to increase by the trillions instead of decrease, and the FED and IMF are printing hundreds of millions if not billions into economies worldwide to keep things afloat during the outbreak of COVID-19; effectively devaluing major fiat currencies, including the green paper in your wallet and all but guaranteeing mass inflation.
But don’t panic! I’m here to tell you how you can protect yourself, your wealth, and your families. The answer is silver, my friends. There's a reason that the word for silver literally translates into money in many different languages; including French, Spanish, and Hebrew among many others.
On top of this, we’re seeing the most major banks in the world stockpile silver and gold. JP Morgan did not have an ounce of silver on its books in 2011. Now it owns over 50% of the silver available on public exchanges for a total of around 260 million ounces. Makes you wonder, what they know that we don’t? Some financial speculators with ties to major financial institutions claim the price of silver will decline by 2030, but yet they stockpile it like we’re going to see a very profitable run soon. This coincides with some of the top independent precious metal price speculators that are taking the hint from these banks and have become very bullish on buying silver and gold.
Gold is also an excellent way to store your wealth. It has been, along with silver, used as money almost since the beginning of time. But gold has one critical flaw that makes silver the better choice for the average person like you and me. Gold is just too expensive for a single ounce, making it not only more intimidating to purchase, but also to sell as well. One ounce of gold is worth $1751, while one ounce of silver is currently worth about $17.86. There is such a thing as purchasing what is called fractional gold so you don’t have to purchase a whole ounce at once, but it does come with significant cons. Fractional gold cost more per ounce and is subject to sales tax. So you're looking at 8-9% sales tax and around a 10% premium for fractional gold purchases.
In a scenario like Venezuela where people were to experience hyper inflation, they were basically forced back to the barter system because the volatility of their national currency made it too risky to liquidate their other assets into the Bolivar (Venezuela's national currency). If you were investing in ounces of gold, selling it for a currency going through huge swings of value would be highly risky. Silver ounces, on the other hand, are just the right price to buy and sell for flat currency without risking too much of your financial wealth. You wouldn't want to risk selling an ounce of gold when you only need enough money to go get groceries. And on top of that, silver is also used as a necessary metal by countless companies in countless products, not for just jewelry, but for items such as batteries and water purification systems. The amount of silver used for electronics, solar panels, and biocides has more than tripled in the last thirteen years. With this trend expected to continue, silver’s scarcity will steadily increase. Which should at the very least prevent it from declining in value or becoming volatile in its price evaluation.
Keeping your silver stored properly is also of high importance. Intercept products are going to keep your coins, bars, and jewelry looking like new. Think about what will be more appealing to a buyer or bargainer; a corroded coin you can barely tell is silver, or a pristine piece of shining silver that will hold sentimental value in addition to its value as a real world currency? When you hypothetically consider yourself the buyer in a situation like this, the importance of preserving the condition of your metals becomes clear.

It’s the end of a long and taxing day. You may be extremely tired, but make sure to remove your jewelry before getting into bed. When you sleep in jewelry you're likely to apply unnecessary strain or pressure, potentially breaking or damaging it. Furthermore, sleeping in jewelry brings it into contact with your skin oils, laundry detergent, fabric softener, etc. which may contain contaminants harmful to precious metals overtime.
Cosmetics, hairsprays, body fragrances, and lotions contain chemicals that can damage jewelry. Be sure to put on your jewelry after applying these products to minimize the amount of contact.
Water causes color change, corrosion, tarnish acceleration, and structural damage. Therefore, it’s important to avoid getting your jewelry wet. Remove jewelry before showering and washing your hands. Likewise, because chlorine can damage precious stones, silver, and even gold, never go swimming while wearing your jewelry.
Always take off your jewelry before exercising or performing any type of strenuous physical activity. Over time, perspiration can cause wear and tear on metals and stones. There’s also always the chance of scratching or chipping your jewelry.
It’s important to have your pieces inspected and cleaned regularly by a jeweler to keep it fresh and free of potential damage. While there are clean-at-home kits, professionals have access to tools and resources you cannot buy at a department store. Like anything else, you get what you pay for! For less important pieces, you can get an appropriate home cleaner and a polish kit.
This is perhaps the easiest – yet most overlooked – way to care for your jewelry. It's crucial to ensure it is properly stored at the end of the day or when you're not wearing it. After cleaning your jewelry, place your pieces in a jewelry box in individual cells or use anti-tarnish bags to keep it separated and protected. Avoid storing jewelry together or in a pile, as this can cause scratching, tangling, damage and tarnish.
